BIS offers a challenging college-preparatory curriculum focused on developing a passion for truth, a commitment to excellence, and an appreciation for diversity. We understand the important role parents play in providing support in their child's education.  Our staff is committed to keeping parents informed of their student's progress and hold high expectations for parent involvement. We eagerly welcome families who are like-minded and seeking this type of educational experience for their children.

How to Apply

Brasilia International School Application Summary

Step 1: Online Registration

  • New Families: Complete the online application by registering a new family (use School ID: 4004 when prompted). Confirm your registration via the email received.

 

Step 2: Assessments and Interviews

  • Placement Tests:

    • Under 6 years old: Child development specialists will conduct an in-person assessment.

    • 6 years and older: Complete a computer-based MAP Test covering language and math. Additional English testing may be required for non-native speakers.

  • Interviews:

    • Students may be asked to be present for the interview with the School Director.

    • Optional interview with the Finance Director.

 

Application Checklist

  • Completed online enrollment application.

  • Placement test/assessment results.

  • Interview with the School Director.

  • (Optional) Interview with the Finance Director.

  • Payment of the application fee.

Required Documents (Uploaded Online)

  • Student’s copy of passport, ID, or birth certificate.

  • Parent(s)’ copy of passport, ID, or CPF.

  • Most recent report cards and/or high school transcript.

  • Applicable testing and evaluation results (e.g., standardized tests, MAP scores, IEP reports).

  • Vaccination records and blood type information (in accordance with Law No. 4.379/2009).

  • Digital picture of the student.

  • Confidential Special Services Form  (only if student has been to school before)

  • Confidential Recommendation Form  (only if student has been to school before)

 

Additional Information

  • Age & Potty Training Requirements:

    • ELC (Early Learning Center): At least 3 years old and potty trained by September 1 (for first-time entrants).

    • Pre-K: At least 4 years old and potty trained by September 1.

    • Kindergarten: At least 5 years old and potty trained by September 1.

  • Grade placements are determined by the School Director and Admissions Team after reviewing assessments and school records.

  • For students entering grades 9–12, the guidance counselor will assess transfer credits for graduation requirements.

  • The BIS school year follows the US calendar:

    • Semester 1: August – December

    • Semester 2: January – June
